Bernard Sim started on film, working through 110mm and 35mm before moving to DSLR and mirrorless. Along the way he took two photography courses at NAFA and collected awards in portraiture, landscape and architecture.
The one he is best known for is animals. He won the Sony Animal Portrait Competition in Singapore and globally, and was named Best Pet Photographer 2022 in Singapore. He is also a magic enthusiast, which is where Magicdow gets its name, and which explains a good deal about how he works a room.
Outdoors he knows where the light is: Gardens by the Bay, Bishan Park, Pasir Ris Park, and a long list of spots he has been shooting for years. In the studio at Ubi he controls it instead.

No one is asked to say cheese.
Sessions run an hour. He arrives early, sets up, and then mostly waits. Dogs get treats and time. Children get ignored until they forget about him. Couples get told roughly where to stand and then left alone.
What comes back is between five and fifteen edited photographs, usually twelve to fifteen, delivered high resolution and printable to A4.
